Misamis Occidental is a province in the Philippines located in the Northern Mindanao Region, shaped like a collapsible fan it is bounded on the Northeast by the Mindanao Sea. The name it has is believed to have been derived from the word “Kuyamis” which is a variety of sweet coconut – the staple food of the early settlers in the place. The three boundaries it has are bodies of water that gives away water life as one of its natural resources and fishing as one of its main industries. It is a sanctuary to an amazing variety of flower and plant resources and wildlife.
