Florida’s
The One: Florida Caverns State Park
Florida,
a state filled with different charming sceneries will once again capture your
heart through the Florida Cavern States Park, the only state park in Florida
that offers public cave tours of its dry caverns. This beauty is located in Marianna, Florida.
Among
the few state parks in the country, the Florida Cavern States Park has become
popular among tourists because of the dazzling formations of the limestone
stalactites, stalagmites, flowstones, and other rock formations inside the
cave. Before coming inside the cave, tourists can readily enjoy their way into
the park. Several activities such as camping, picnicking, hiking, bicycling,
horseback riding are open for everybody to enjoy. Trails are multi-used hence everybody can
enjoy doing anything they’d like as long as nobody is harmed. Enjoy the sight
of floodplains, sinkholes and rivers to fulfill your cravings for magnificent
sceneries. Camping overnight in the campgrounds is allowed with minimal fees that
are to be arranged directly with the park management. For a cheaper yet more
exciting camping, primitive camping is also allowed with a minimum fee per
person per night.
Fishing,
swimming, canoeing, and boating are also some of the activities enjoyed by
tourists. A boat ramp is located between the park entrance station and the
family camping area. However, only small boats are recommended to launch from
this for safety reasons especially in the Chipola River. The spring water in
the area attracts tourists to swim in the area but it should be remembered that
there are NO lifeguards on duty therefore; a
swimmer must understand the risk of plunging into the water before diving in.
To
avoid disappointment regarding the cave tours in Florida Cavern States Park,
make sure to check the dates when the cave tours are closed during the week.
Usually, they are closed every Tuesday and Wednesday each week, though canoe
rentals are still available at the Ranger Station.
