Darien Gap is a large swath of undeveloped swampland and forest separating Darien Province of Panama in Central America from Colombia. This place is known to be the missing link in the Pan-American Highway. There is no road in this area mainly because of the thick forest. Also constructing a road in this area is way too expensive hence this is an area where nature really exists. No roads and no cleared trails. Only those equipped with a brave soul and a calling for adventure are invited to enter this sanctuary.
For quite some time, Darien Gap has become infamous due to the guerillas from Colombia that are within the area. However, there are places in the Darien province that are definitely safe to visit. The Darien National Park, considered as a world heritage houses different animals such as species of macaw, parrot, tapirs and harpy eagles- known to be the world’s largest predator bird.

Once you left the border between Darien Gap and Panama the only option you have if you are travelling in land is via motorcycle so that you can reach the town of Darien Gap.
